Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger didn't finish what he started Saturday afternoon because of a sore groin.
"He can be characterized as day-to-day," head coach Mike Tomlin said.
Roethlisberger first experienced soreness in his groin Friday night during a practice at Latrobe High School's Memorial Stadium.
He took the morning off yesterday at St. Vincent College, then practiced yesterday afternoon but did not take part in 11-on-11 "team" drills.
"We knew he was going to be a little sore coming out. He wanted to give it a go, see if he could get it warm. He did as much as he could do. We exercised a little caution," Tomlin said. "And it's always a quality opportunity to give reps to young guys like (rookie quarterbacks) Dennis Dixon and Mike Potts."
The sore groin didn't prevent Roethlisberger from connecting twice with wide receiver Hines Ward and once with wide receiver Nate Washington for touchdowns during a two-on-three, receivers vs. defensive backs drill.
