Yes, Ben was trying to quiet down the crowd.
ANd no I don't find it harder to get louder when it's cold out. Matter of fact, I become more vocal (even without the alcohol). I mean if you're going to be cold you might as well enjoy it and just sitting there in the cold isn't that much fun.
