You all realize that the President is only the Commander in Chief during war time and ONLY to the military. He is NEVER EVER EVER the Commander in Chief to the American people.
Article II, Section 2, clause I of that little thing called the U.S. Constitution states in pertinent part: "shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States."
Just my little pet peeve, I hate when citizens give someone power over them by title they don't ever have. Unless you are in the military, NO PRESIDENT WILL EVER BE YOUR COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Have a good night.
