I think the way to effectively utilize a spread is situationally, and not base your entire offense around it...case in point, Florida Gators. They can spread you out but they also have the personnel to play a conventional offense. In the NCG against OSU they mixed elements of both, and sometimes even in single series. The teams that live and die by the run-n-shoot ultimately died because that was the extent of their arsenal. That's exactly why the Wildcat WILL stick around. It's not an offense but merely a wrinkle in an overall offensive gameplan. If it was run every down, it'd be quickly sniffed out and shut down by ever evolving NFL defenses.
