The Pittsburgh Penguins played their hearts out on Monday night against the Florida Panthers, who had a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes of game play, giving fans the excitement they love to see.
Of the five penalties handed out in the first period, four of those were served by Pittsburgh. Three minutes into the game the Penguins’ Captain Sidney Crosby received a penalty for goalkeeper interference. A few minutes later, Mike Rupp and Bryan Allen dropped their gloves and were penalized accordingly. Then, Crosby was given out yet another penalty for hi-sticking. And forward Chris Bourque served two minutes in the box for tripping.
If that wasn’t enough to set the mood in the first period, the Panthers’ Nathan Horton did so by scoring the first goal in the game at 17:33.
The second period wasn’t any better. Keith Ballard scored another goal for the Panthers, bringing the score to 2-0.
But the Penguins, who are known for being a comeback team, didn’t give up just then. During the third period, the tables turned in favor of the Pens. Pascal Dupuis crashed the net and put the puck past Tomas Vokoun making the score 2-1 early in the third period.
