This week, the Penguins played some pretty impressive hockey—in the beginning of the week, that is.
Monday’s Penguins game against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden started off slowly, but picked up speed as time ticked by.
There was no scoring at all during the first period, although three penalties were handed out—two to the Rangers and one to the Penguins.
New York’s Marian Gaborik scored the first goal of the night at 3:12 in the second period. The goal was assisted by Vinny Prospal and Marc Staal, the older brother of Penguin Jordan Staal.
Eleven seconds after that, the Penguins tied the score at one. Captain Sidney Crosby, who has been on fire these last couple of games, received a pass from Bill Guerin and placed one up high in the net past goal-tender Henrik Lundqvist. Defensemen Sergei Gonchar also assisted.....
