PITTSBURGH, PA —
It was over when...
With 3:54 remaining in the 4th quarter, Ben Roethlisberger threw a 19 yard torpedo to Santonio Holmes for the touchdown to put away the Patriots 34-20.
Game Ball
Ben Roethlisberger completed 65 percent of his passes and threw for over 370 yards and passed for 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions... Heath Miller had 9 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown.
The Steelers were winless coming into a hard opening schedule but overcame adversity and overpowered the dominating Patriots in a new decade. The Steelers nearly found themselves up early but a Roethlisberger interception in the endzone negated any thought of that.
Instead they nearly found themselves down 14-3, but the punishing Steeler defence overcame the mind tricks of Tom Brady and only allowed him to 269 yards on the day, William Gay played another bad game, Wes Welker had 130 yards, he burned Gay on most plays but couldn't get that touchdown in the endzone, instead Gay dropped the.
Santonio Holmes toyed with Nate Clements casually throughout the day.
Incredibly bad news came as Rookie Starting Cornerback from Georgia Bryan Evans who had shutout Randy Moss in the first quarter Partially tore his MCL and will be sidelined 12 weeks. Ike Taylor may get a new contract if the Steelers defence who were ranked #1 3 years in a row want to find themselves out of a unit ranked #28 in the NFL.
