With the Steelers leading by 17-3 with just 6 minutes left Lones Seiber hit a field goal to put the Buccaneers to bed 20-3.
LaMarr Woodley terroized the Buccaneers offensive line all day, he helped stop the Buccaneers to under 37 yards rushing with 4 tackles and when he blitzed he picked up 3 sacks and a fumble recovery.
The Steelers held their last home game against an NFC opponent of the season.
The Buccaneers came into Heinz Field looking promising but soon found out that recently rehired Bruce Gradkowski just could not move the chains as he was limited to just under 160 yards passing and threw 2 interceptions leading his team to not even gaining a touchdown and could only convert 7% of their third downs.
The Steelers didn't look so good on the offensive side of the ball as they only managed 298 yards on the day, season average is 374 yards. Dennis Dixon threw two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions, he could only muster a quarterback rating of 71.6 but still guided the Steelers to a win. In Dennis Dixon starting just a couple of games this season has thrown for 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Ben Roethlisberger is listed as doubtful for next week's encounter against Miami. The Steelers who are second in their division at 6-2 will try to overide Miami and take the first place as the Ravens 6-2 are on a two game losing streak.
If the playoffs ended today the Steelers would hold the 4th seed.
Since Ike Taylor has been back with the Steelers after his recent holdout dispute, the Steelers defence has transformed to only giving up 247 yards per game, The first two games they allowed near 800 yards.
He shut down Antonio Bryant holding him to 2 receptions for 40 yards.
