My parents actually bought me a Tempo for my first car and its was a POS, it wouldn't even start without doing a million things to it. Eventually they bought me a Grand Am which drove wonderfully in the winter and summer for a while.
That of course is the worry.....so far so good. I made sure our mechanic signed off on it before I got it for him.
I have a friend who paints cars and semi tractors on the side....he is going to give it a new paint job at a VERY reasonable price.
The way I look at it...I paid $900...the book on it is $2,200...if I even get a whif of the vehicle being a money vacuum....I sell it for a profit.
