We are going to have some growing pains with the OL this year. The speed of the game, the schemes, and the size of the defenders are going to throw all these guys for a loop. That's okay, as long as we see them improving each week.

Whoops. The pitfalls of cutting & pasting a paragraph, and altering one or two words (I should have changed that to say "The Steelers drafted him") Regardless, the point (many similarities) is evident.

jim wexell addresses the tweet induced panic rather nicely-

Where was the tweet from the rep prior when DeCastro stoned Blanc. I mean Blanc couldn't move anything, arms or legs, he was wrapped up so tight. So he got off the ball and ran past him the second time. No big deal.

I looked up at the one snap the second team had in the two-minute drill. DeCastro stoned McLendon, who's been killing Pouncey in one-on-ones all camp. Therefore, DeCastro is better than Pouncey?

No. It's just how one-on-ones go sometimes. And often the coaches are having the player work on technique and they don't care who wins for the radio guys who have their noses buried in twitter.

If DeCastro was looking as unathletic as Urbik looked in one-on-ones his rookie yeaer, then you should worry. But he's an athlete. He could use a few more pounds but he'll be fine. I'm not worried in the least.

Wexell's wrong, he's a bust. I'd trade him to Jax for a 5th round pick.

Anybody actually been to camp and seen the 1 on 1 drills?? If its pass rush, then the O lineman is always at a huge disadvantage. If its run blocking, then I would be more concerned as DeCastro gets to be the hammer and not the nail.

The kid is going to be fine. When other guys in the Pac 12 say he was the toughest guy they played against, its similar to when Gerald McCoy said "Pouncey was one of the toughest guys I played against in college". Go push panic button elsewhere.

I was going to mention that.  Sometimes the coaches have players practice certain (new) techniques, in order to improve their overall ability.

I remember when Reggie White was being taught the spin move (he was already adept at bull rush & swim move).  This third technique took him a while... and he looked a little confused.  But when it clicked, he became unstoppable.

Oh... Malcolm Johnson always looked way better than Hines Ward in drills.  Drills are drills.  Game play is what really matters.  And, I'm willing to bet that when actual plays are run, DD looks good.

PANIC PANIC PANIC! TURMOIL TURMOIL TURMOIL!

We're screwed! We're done! Trade all our good players to St. Louis for draft picks! Fire the entire coaching staff and Colbert! Move the team to LA! A rookie having some trouble in the first week of training camp means our season is now ruined! All our hopes and dreams were in this kid and he's now officially a bust!

Maybe I watch too much ESPN....

I say we trade his ass for Kraig Urbik. He seems to have come on with Buffalo.
