Great W yesterday with 2 things that stood out to me that haven't been mentioned thus far... without 100+ yards of penalties, we would have dominated that game. Tomlin's 'composure' sure hasn't helped our team from making stupid penalties (many of which are dead ball fouls) so he needs to get a fire under some folks from time to time rather than staring at the field with the "god i hope we pull this out" look on his face... Our pass rush finally seemed to get going yesterday. Sure some of that is due to the return of silverback, but i would argue it was much more due to play calling and overall Defensive scheme, so kudos to LeBeau for realizing his approach in the raiders game was atrocious and doing something about it with a turnover machine in Vick

Colon needs to be sat down...strapped to a chair...and smacked around by Kugler and Haley. There was no excuse for that performance yesterday. And we had this problem previously with Kemo.
The same exact penalties....being done over and over and over. Where's the discipline and smackdown from the coaches at????? |

As long as Ike Taylor is underneath him, Colon can sit. Refs shouldn't have called one that they did on ike, but they missed 3 others. Every QB knows this guy lost a step and has to play aggressive to catch up. They only have to toss the rock in his direction and he is getting caughts.
Colon's are just because is his a dumbass. Ike because he has lost a step. Maybe the 7th or 8th game Ike will actually show up. This week he gets to make another no name WR's year. |

Colon is in a new position. He should get better.
Ike may just have lost a step, which may help next year with our safety issues, but I don't see anyone we have able to step up to his former level at CB. That could be a problem. |

here we go again with the mythical "blank stare/deer in the headlights look. why are steelerfans so obsessed with this catchphrase? hes a black man with big orbital sockets and eyeballs. theres nothing he can do about it. i guess steelerfans wont be happy with his look unless he is constantly smiling ear to ear, or screaming mad, spitting like cowher. maybe tomlin just needs to remember to put on his "gameface" anytime the cameras are rolling... These are people who completely missed out on (or have conveniently forgotten) the classic Landry-Noll Stare-a-thons. I don't understand what a coach is supposed to do. 80% of his work is pre-game prep, and the other 20% gets sidetracked if he's focusing on in-game dramatics designed to freak out his players.

theyre certainly not supposed to have a steely focused and determined look, that is for sure. steelerfans hate that.
maybe tomlin should wear shades on the sidelines so he can pretend he is looking pissed and angry.

I'd like to see Tomlin work the refs a bit more.
Especially when it seems like we're getting hose'd with the calls like this past Sunday. Human nature being what it is, it can work for you. Put "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" theory into action. Any edge is worth a shot. |
