The comparison is scary, but at least Ike had skills to lose, unlike Tom Donahoe's idea of Woodson's replacement. The best thing Chad Scott did for the team was go on IR in his first NFL game ever. After that he was a total liability.

Seriously a positive thread? On IKE? Lets create a new position to save Ike. Maybethat is a positive comment.
How about re-reading your post. Change IKE to the #2 corner? So your plan is to tell the opoosing QB "hey Mr. QB, we put Ike as the #2 CB, not the #1 shutdown guy. So please do not target him first?" Transform him to safety? How about transform his ass out and save the money? |

Watching Ike play corner is painful. He's just straight mugging WR now. It's not even suttle!

the problem is the book is now out on taylor and after all his years in teh league, teams have finally figured out what steelerfans have known all along. ike taylor cant catch. not only does he have hands of stone, he doesnt play the ball well (which is probably a residual effect of him having hands of stone). teams are no longer avoiding throwing at him. there is little risk in doing so, even when the man is covered. hasselbecks passes were rainbow lolli-pops tossed up for grabs. if teams throw deep on ike it is usually resulting in a PI call. he's doing it more because he is thrown at more. teams are also using more slants and crossing patterns with their "deep threat" wr's against him. just saying that ike is slower now is giving absolutely no credit to other teams who might be experimenting (denver in playoffs) and doing their homework & devising a gameplan to attack a specific players weakness. its in ikes head now and he is definitely overcompensating with the penalties. perhaps he isnt getting away with alot of the hand jostling he used to be able to get away with as well.

We need a new DC. One that doesn't neuter DL and forbid them from shooting gaps and crushing the pocket, and one who doesn't merely require mid round DB's who can't play the ball because they're only supposed to wrap up after the catch.
Offenses have it easy enough in this modern era of football. You don't need to make it easier by escorting them down the field. |
