but it's not. Its Woodley. It's Troy. It's Mendenhall. It's Redman. It's Gilbert. It's Pouncey. It's numerous rookies. It's Harrison. And on. And on. And on. This isn't happening ANYwhere else. Regardless, the training staff needs a second look. There's no saying right now that they are the be-all, end-all, greatest trainers in the universe. They could be s*** just as easily as Ryan Mundy is s***. Who knows until they're put under a microscope. |

This from Ed Bouchette's chat
With the amount of injuries on the offensive line there has been much talk about conditioning and technique being a factor in those injuries which would theoretically come down to the coaching and training staff. Do you think conditioning/training is a valid theory for the cause of this? Ed Bouchette: Not one bit when it comes to the line Someone told me, however, that Troy Polamalu is questioning his own training, which as you probably know has been quite different from the other Steelers with his own trainer on the West Coast. http://plus.sites.post-gazette.com/i...ouchettes-chat Given Troy's injury history it is about time for him to wonder about his training methods |

Since he switched off of his normal routine, he has spent a majority of his time the last few seasons in the tub.

The offensive line injuries? That is MARCUS GILBERT-- in his two seasons, he has:
1) Rolled up on Pouncey's bad ankle twice. 2) Rolled up on DeCastro's ankle and putting him on IR. In short, I would be objectionable if I had to work on the right side of our Oline. Unless they gave me some sort of "Gilbert Ankle Insurance". The RT has defintely taken a few steps back since last year. I just rewatched some tape from Oakland and this last Thursday-- Gilbert has been nothing short of TERRIBLE this year.

I haven't seen much improvement in his play. He's big but has bad feet. I know many fans here think he's an answer long term at tackle. It's way too early to know for sure either way but based on what we've seen??? |

i've wondered about the trainers myself, but the majority of the injuries the Steelers have dealt with so far this year don't have anything to do with conditioning. (See above) |

I've often wondered how much was due to Ben moving around too much. OTOH if they do their job, he doesn't have to move.

I watched part of the Bungles/Stains game this Sunday and was somewhat startled to see that after NO play were there OL failing on each other or rolling around, in fact they pretty much stayed on their feet.
Made me wonder why our fatties always seem to be on the ground... |

exactly. Which could lead right back to conditioning/flexibility. Regardless, its worth looking at. I'm sure they're at least on the radar now. |
