Are We Ready For Baltimore

I'll save my judgements until the next three games have passed as to whether or not this team is in fact "average". This is the NFL, to believe that your team is going to go in and just absolutely blow out a team because they are 1-7 and have the most turnovers is foolish. This is professional football played by professional athletes. Any team can win any game.

I believe we are just not ready. I started this thread out with the thought of "we got this" and with all the injuries, bad ref-ing and poor call playing by the coaches I don't see how we will pull a win off against the Ravens.

My thoughts would be to play as terrible as possible and play it off as "we have no one good left" or play as terrible as we could with the hopes of it will throw Baltimores game play off, bring them down a level and get a quick win by some cheesy college plays.

Leftwich has to earn the right to be called by his proper name, in your eyes. Until then he is "Leftover sandwich" or whatever. Why don't you call him by "Hey, boy" while you are at it too? he has to earn YOUR respect? Begs the next question-- who the hell are YOU?

Now, the Steelers should throw the game to the Ravens because their QB is hurt for a few weeks?

Your uptight. Obviously you don't get the gist of a joke. The bottom line is he does not have what I believe the necessary skills to pull a win off. He is inexperienced and un-tested. That's a fact. Until otherwise proven I will still remain skeptical of a win. I hope I am proved wrong.

I place your "jokes" in the "lets float this out there and if I get called on it-- I will play it safe and claim it was just a joke" category.

Not that I think Leftwich is All-pro, but he was a starting QB on at least two different teams in the past, and does have some talents-- he was drafted in the first round. As long as he gets some reps in this week, we should be able to grind out a win.

Actually he has a better deep ball than Ben, more accurate. We should be able to connect on some of those long balls this week to Wallace. His lasers are less likely to get int'd as well. He is an accurate passer and on e he has some good timing down after a week of practice he will be fine. Yeah he has a slow release, so our Oline will need to makes sure to protect against strip sacks.

He throws a pretty-looking deep ball. I expect at least one long recpetion thrown to Wallace per game (likely for a TD).

I disagree with one part: his slow release translates into INTs, because DBs can more easily break on the ball. And, Leftwich is not very good with short passes (he throws them too hard).

As I've mentioned in the other fifteen Leftwich threads:
Establish the run behind The Colon & Pouncey. Once the SS moves forward, uncork a deep ball ot Wallace for an "easy" TD.

In fact, here is the stat-line that I expect for the Ravens game:
234 yards, 2 TDS, 1 INT 5/16**

**(two long TDs (65 & 80 yards), plus three deep (15-25 yard) completions)

Add in another long TD drive, and I foresee a 17-21 victory for the Steelers.
