Default Injury Updates on Polamalu and Roethlisberger (and others)

Updates on Polamalu and Roethlisberger

At his weekly Tuesday news conference, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin ruled out quarterback Byron Leftwich and wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery for Sunday's game but doesn't believe their rib injuries are season-ending ones.

Tomlin said Troy Polamalu is going to run Wednesday but will be limited in practice. Polamalu has missed the past six games with a calf injury. Tomlin described the Pro Bowl safety as questionable for Sunday. "We will let his participation lead us in terms of where he might be this weekend," Tomlin said.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is considered doubtful for Sunday, according to Tomlin. Roethlisberger missed his first game of the season on Sunday night with rib and shoulder injuries.

"He had an additional test done today and all things are very positive in terms of where he is," Tomlin said. "We're encouraged about his status."

Here are some other injury updates:

Wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle): Will be limited early in the week and is considered questionable.

Defensive end Ziggy Hood (lumbar spine sprain): "We expect to him to perk up by the end of the week," Tomlin said.

Offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle): Will be limited to individual drills Wednesday and is considered questionable.

Running back Isaac Redman (concussion): Is performing well on the post-concussion tests.

Again, when healthy we will be a very good team. Adding Plax, and maybe Hoyer as the 3rd team eventually back-up, could be huge. We just need a QB who's not so damn brittle. Not that everyone will be Ben but Lefty gets hurt while handing off it seems. i'm a fan of his back to his Marshall days but man we need some healthy QB's!

the Packers would need to add WR Randall Cobb and a #1 draft choice to make that a fair trade.
