But your right on the mark Tony that coaches can't be blamed for the dumb ass not playing through the whistle. I will give you that one. But how many times do they have to be told to play through the whistle? The Steelers do this year in and year out on several plays a year.

Caught napping on the fake punt, than the supposed fumble.

Now, when will we learn the dam bubbles dont work? That you can blame Haley on. but not the lack of being smart enough to not pick up the ball.
That's very true about the whistle. I've been in a rage a few games because the ball was live and Steeler's stood around staring while it got ran back for a TD. Two of them this year really pissed me off because it seemed like Ben was stopping team mates from reacting because he was signaling dead ball to them...but it wasn't. No whistle, you pile your ass onto that ball.

It doesn't matter if the receiver was behind the line of scrimmage. What matters is was the ball moving in a forward direction, and it clearly was, both live and in the replay. It doesn't have to be very much forward, any at all will do. If that was any other team in the league it would have been a forward pass on the field and in the booth.

Same thing with that one incomplete ruling. We've had worse catches go against us.

yeah it was forward pass which the NFL review system was gutless to call it what it was

Doesn't matter during the game that they screwed up the call. My point is that the whistle had not blown, so AB chould've jumped on, or kicked the ball out.

And while that's true, it was obviously incomplete, and his initial reaction was to let the play die as it should have, then he went for the ball and then was knocked away. He never really had much of a chance to react after it occurred to him that he should react.

The new NFL is a double-edged sword. Play to the whistle and get a personal fowl called in the endzone and a new rule written about that mid-game, especially if you're a Steeler, or pull up expecting the obvious and get an incompleted pass ruled a fumble after a phone call from Der Komissar during the review. Either way it ends in San Diego getting unearned points.
