Brandon Jacobs?

Who cancelled?

Sign Beanie Wells, draft a RB 3/4 RD, retain Mendy and that's pretty much it for options.

I would love Beanie, but he pretty much admitted last year that he will have knee problems for the rest of his life. Steelers need to find an Alfred Morris. 22 year old stud in the 2nd or 3rd round who balls every game.

You're right, it would emulate Bettis' production after he turned 30: missed tons of games due to injury, fell below 4 Yds/CAR, split carries with Amos Zereoue and Duce and was mostly only effective as a goal line back...

Steelers need a young workhorse RB, not a complimentary guy on the downslope of their career.

Noting the date that article was posted was December 16th. That leaves one question - why would the Steelers break their long-standing tradition of not negotiating mid-season with a player that has had attitude issues?

I think that's mostly PR. Seems to me every other year there's a signing done mid-season in relatively quiet fashion, and then five minutes later the standard line reverts to "no negotiations during the season".

What about that Kid Jason Ford? he looked pretty good for us between the tackles in preseason...that and his resemblance physically to Bettis
