I also heard he gave Ward the booze that got him drunk and forced him to drive under the influence.

There's more examples, but I feel like I got my point across. Players have to take accountability and blaming the coach for players' off-field antics is absolutely ridiculous. People are looking for any reason to be frustrated right now and of course, they relate this back to Tomlin and his 'buddy-buddy' and 'undisciplined' style of coaching.
Remember that time when Tomlin invaded Poland?

That almost as bad as a few years later, when he sunk the USS West Virginia.

I agree with anyone saying this is hypocritical. How the F is Ta'amu still on this team?!?! It's like the Holmes/Ben situation IMO. They couldn't dump Ben so they get rid of Holmes to "prove" they aren't going to tolerate these types of incidents. Very hypocritical and I love the Steelers but it just smells awful. Be consistent!!! Rainey can rot in prison for all I care but this doesn't send a message other than confusion as to what is tolerated.

Let's give him a break is all I'm saying.
I'm not going to give him a break. It is not okay to hit a woman, no matter what age a man is. Men know this, even those in their 20's. It's also not okay to mess with her purse without permission. I never touch a man's wallet without permission. I carry a ton of stuff in my purse and it's heavy. If a guy tried to take my purse, I would cause him great harm with it.

It's not okay if his girlfriend took his cell phone without permission either, but I don't know the circumstances on how or why she had it, so I can't really speak to that issue, but it still doesn't warrant Rainey hitting her.

Glad he was cut. Good riddance.

Ta'amu can hit the road, too, as far as I'm concerned.

And I think the Steelers are eager to try to right their ship after the Harrison and Ben incidents on - for lack of a better term - gender issues. As well they should, by the way. Their star lost a LOT of luster over those two incidents.

As far as Ta'amu, I know this sounds ridiculous, but you're really not supposed to fire someone for being a drunk. It might be a state-by-state thing, so I don't know if this applies in PA, but alcoholism is considered an illness. If he had an epileptic fit while driving, or went into a diabetic seizure on the highway, we certainly wouldn't be having this discussion now.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree, just that the legalities in Ta'amu's case are probably a lot more complicated than you think.

The Steelers show about as much consistency in their discipline as Roger Goodell. Too bad for Rainey the RB position is crowded if he was a QB or NT he would still be on the team.

I personally don't care if a player has a fight with their girlfriend. It is none of my business. James Harrison's girlfriend stayed with him after he slapped her with an open hand. If the woman who was assaulted is not willing to part ways with a player then why are the Steelers? Some couples fight more than others and it is a shame that their fights could affect their livelihood.

Bottom line is the whole situation reeks with hypocrisy.

I'd now rather take a chance on someone unproven over Rainey - not much difference in the two
