Stranger: The Falcons beat the Seahawks today.
Me: No, the Seahawks beat the Seahawks today. --- It's going to be another looooooong and cold winter in the Pac NW. We'll surely lead the nation in suicides again. |

That thinking doesn't work because if that last FG had gone wide,Atlanta could surely have claimed they beat themselves by going away from their game plan after the half. Both teams made mistakes and both teams took advantage of the mistakes of the other.

Well, either way, everyone can pretty much forget about the bye teams winning easily in the divisional round.
Denver LOST. Atlanta ALMOST LOST. The Green Bay/SF game was competitive for a good bit(until around the 4th quarter). Although NE won easily. The list goes on in recent years, but in many years prior to that 80% of the bye teams would win in the divisional round by double digits. Now? Not really anymore. The Giants beat 2 #1 seeds in the years they won the SB. The Jets made it to 2 AFCCGs by going through as WCs. Peyton went 1 and done a couple of times as #1 seeds. Arizona and Green Bay were barely WCs the years they went to SBs. The list goes on. I don't know what it is, but the playing field has evened out in recent years. Atlanta may be a very good team, but they ARE beatable(they could have easily been a 9 or 10 win team in the reg season). Denver may have been 13-3, but they had trouble against the better teams in the reg season. NE only does enough to win, and no more. |

The second non-FG was Russell Wilson's fault for taking a sack instead of throwing it away or an incompletion. Regardless of the results, etc, it was a hell of a game for sure though. |
