I agree that the ST has stunk. To me it seemed better last year than this year by a good margin. Sylvester missing really hurt the SP teams I think. Curtis Brown isnt a great cover corner but he is an excellent special teamer as well.

The Steelers should focus more on field position in the future. I'd like to hear "field position" as much as I hear "time of possession."

If the other team has to go 80 yards the Steelers D usually makes a stop. The defense gave up a lot of 40-60 yard drives last season. Both the offense and the defense need to have better field position.

Our special teams rarely are special, and this goes back a long way. Part of the problem with our 2012 season was a lot of our gunners were forced to play defense, and losing Sylvester, Carter, and Spence to injuries didn't help either.

As for the coaching, I'm convinced Everest left via a dispute over which players he had to work with, and how much time he was allowed to work with them. With the way that they played, it's pretty obvious that this unit is a low priority.

The Steelers should try and get Dustin Hopkins into camp to compete. It would be huge for the Steelers to have a kicker who is reliable from 50 yards. That is a rarity.

Dustin Hopkins, FSU 83% 6-9 40-49 5-6 from 50+ 56 long
