Ray Lewis apparently used an illegal substance to heal his arm injury.
Ray used Deer Penis spray to speed up healing which banned by the NFL. This could "taint" Ray's going away party and possibly even have an asterik after the wins for the Ravens since his return. |

![]() And it will blow over just another Super Bowl media day question, happens every year http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...tract/1874671/ NEW ORLEANS — Ray Lewis returned to Super Bowl media day with another controversy: allegations of cheating. According to Sports Illustrated, the iconic Baltimore Ravens linebacker tried to obtain deer-antler velvet extract in an attempt to speed the healing for a torn triceps that sidelined him for more than half the season. Lewis approached the makers of the deer-antler velvet extract — Sports with Alternative to Steroids — the company's owner Mitch Ross told SI. Deer-antler spray contains IGF-1, which is on the NFL's list of banned substances. Using the spray would be a violation of the NFL's steroids policy. During a podium session packed with news media, Lewis dismissed the story. "Two years ago, that was the same report," he said. "It's not worthy of the press." When asked directly whether he had used the spray during his recovery this season, Lewis said, "Nah, never." The last time Lewis was at a Super Bowl, questions swirled about his involvement in the murders of two men after a Super Bowl party in Atlanta in 2000. Murder charges were dropped against Lewis, who pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice. Interest in the case has been renewed in recent weeks as Lewis announced his intent to retire after Super Bowl XLVII and family members of the victims have spoken out about whether he revealed everything that he knew about the murders. Before the SI story, it was expected that Lewis would be asked to revisit the murder case. Instead, Lewis was pressed to address the fresh controversy. Asked a second time if he could respond to the report, Lewis said, "Not really. Why would I give that any press." Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he isn't concerned about the story or its implications, noting that Lewis has never failed a drug test. "Ray has passed every test for substance abuse that he's taken throughout his entire career," Harbaugh said. |

Do they even test pro football players? I think rarely. This isn't the Olympics. I respect Lewis and all but to be honest, I think the guy doped on this one. It doesn't make sense that he could come back from such an injury at his age.

ESPN Sports Guy Bill Simmons is not getting misty eyed about Ray-Ray's miracle recovery
When Bertrand Berry and Ty Warren suffered a complete tear of their triceps, it took them six months to recover. When Arizona left tackle Levi Brown suffered a complete tear of his triceps in August 2012, the Cardinals immediately put him on their season-ending injured list. When Ray Lewis suffered a complete tear of his triceps in mid-October, we thought he was finished for the season … only he returned to action a little more than two months later. During the third month of his "recovery," he made 17 tackles in a double-overtime playoff game in Denver. In 13-degree weather. At age 37. So when Lewis's name landed in this week's PED scandal, nobody tumbled over in shock.... I believe that Ray Lewis cheated. I believe that to be true based on circumstantial evidence, his age, his overcompetitiveness, the history of that specific injury, and the fact that his "recovery" made my shit detector start vibrating like an iPhone. I believe in my right to write the previous paragraph because athletes pushed us to this point. We need better drug testing. We need blood testing. We need biological passports. We need that stuff now. Not in three years. Not in two years. Now. I don't even know what I am watching anymore. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...k-ped-question |

^ Yup. That's what I thought it doesn't make sense. Same for Suggs too for that matter. It's part of the culture to be juiced up.
