Heck no, a team does not have to be on a roll entering the playoffs. Look at the past 2 SB winners. The Giants in 2011 slumped into the postseason, then started playing great football. Same with Baltimore this past season. The playoffs are a whole NEW season. I believe a lot of fans forget that aspect. The regular season is supposed to reward teams by setting them up for the best chance to win in the playoffs, not guarantee them a championship.

Teams that have locked a playoff spot often rest their starters during the final game/s of the regular season. This could impact their W-L for December.
Regardless, Blaze's point still stands. This has absolutely nothing to do with the Pittsburgh Steelers who were not even in the playoffs this year. Move thread, close thread yada yada yada.

In fact in madden 13 I traded Ben for Colin, simulated the entire season, we went 14-2 and beat the 49ers in the superbowl when they had Ben for their starting quarterback, so I think that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Kaepernick is better than Ben. You can't argue with science, well unless you believe in God, like some kind of doctor killing conservative. I just saw on ESPN that the Steelers are planning on trading our first pick in 2013 and first and second pick in 2014 for Alex Smith. Thats crazy, what are we going to do use him as a back up? Or is this a message to Ben that hes on the hot seat?

Well I'm convinced. Who can argue with "science" like that? Fire Colbert and hire the resident joystick GM so we can get this sinking ship righted pronto!

Does Alex Smith know you traded for Kaepernick and not him yet? That is going to be one awkward Valentine's Day dinner with your bromance next week. You'd better double up on the roses and lube.

As others have said, the Ravens didn't go into the playoffs hot. At least not from their nov-dec play.

Michael Vick was an unstoppable beast in Madden 2004, so he must have been the best quarterback in the league in reality at that point, right? And there's no way Alex Smith comes here when he wants out of San Francisco so he won't be warming the bench, which is exactly what he would be doing if he came here. Also, no organization trades a 1st and 2nd for a backup quarterback, except maybe the Jets or the Raiders.
