L.A. police look for ex-cop suspected in shootings

Los Angeles (CNN) -- A former Los Angeles cop who had allegedly warned he would target law enforcement in retribution for being fired is now suspected of shooting three officers early Thursday, killing one, authorities said.

The shootings -- which come a day after Irvine, California, police named Christopher Jordan Dorner as the suspect in a double slaying there Sunday -- sparked a huge manhunt in Southern California.

Police shoot two in Torrance in search for ex-LAPD cop

Los Angeles and Torrance police were involved in two shootings in Torrance early Thursday when police came across vehicles similar to the one sought by authorities in a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer suspected of shooting three other officers.

Neither incident actually involved the suspect, said Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase. The suspect, Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, was at large Thursday morning.

Every highway in LA was flashing the plate number of the "GRAY NISSAN TITAN" all day. I had no idea why (I don't watch the news.) Now I know.

Typical LAPD... shoot first, ask questions later. "But sir, he was black, and he was driving a gray Nissan! I had to act."

Barstow Police issues warning about Dorner

BARSTOW• Barstow Police issued a citizen alert Thursday to warn the public about fugitive Christopher Jordan Dorner, an ex-LAPD officer suspected of multiple murders.

“There is no indication that this subject has any ties to the Barstow area,” authorities said in a statement, “although a manifesto issued by the subject indicates he has potential ties to the Las Vegas area.”
