Want this one to be pretty realistic, so I'm looking at some players that I think the Steelers would actually draft, and would actually be available. So... here we go
![]() 1. Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas 2. Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee 3. Brandon Jenkins, OLB, Florida State 4. Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego State 5. Nico Johnson, ILB, Alabama 6. Kerwynn Williams, RB, Utah State 7. Colby Cameron, QB, Louisiana Tech I really like what I see out of Williams. Think he is a sleeper. He makes one cut and goes, and fast. |

I am a fan fo Elam (or Vaccarro)... potayto/potahto. Hunter & Jenkins make sense. The guy I like is Gavin Escobar. I do nto see him lasting until R4, but if he did... YES!!! The kid is eerily similar to Aaron Hernandez. Nico Johnson is a good player, and will compete for the starting role... and might even be able to slide to OLB. |

This is why I'm not on the Steelers brass, though. They make the tough decisions. |

Crazy, huh. Thus, it's looking like Elam will be there at 25... |

Yeah I read this as well. But that's fine with me. This just pushes other safety prospects closer to the Steeler's reach. I like Cyprien but not more than Elam, or possibly even Reid. I would be more willing to take a DB that would be more of a project because of how well Lake has molded the talent at the position. He just hasn't had much to work with at safety sadly. But Ryan Clark is playing better than ever in my opinion

I had never heard of Kerwynn Williams. I looked him up on youtube. His highlight reel looks like he is all speed and you can't really say he faced very tough competition playing at Utah State. Curious to hear your thoughts on him, I am not sure he would be our go to guy. I also read that he'll more than likely be a 3rd down RB.

Well I am one of the belief that while we will get a running back, I don't think we need to spend a high pick. He would replace Rainey's spot as a return specialist for an immediate impact.
Williams relies on his speed, but that being said, Williams is very fast and I like how quickly and smoothly he transitions in space. He also looks to me like one of the best receiving running backs in this draft. He almost always gains positive yards and has sub 4.4 speed. Usually backs with speed have a bunch of negative plays to go with their home-runs, but Williams isn't one of those guys. He is a shorter back but definitely not small. He's 5'8 but 198 lbs. Rainey was 5'9 180lbs and while Williams is not as fast, was more productive in college than Rainey. And finally as to the level competition, yes I agree slightly... but Utah State was ranked at the end of the year at #22 and this was out of the WAC. They played Louisiana Tech and beat them in overtime, and barely lost to Wisconsin 16-14 (lost by missing a field goal). Oh and Williams stat line for that Wisconsin game? 122 yds and a receiving touchdown on 22 touches. Utah State destroyed Toledo in their bowl game this year and Williams was voted the game MVP. He had 18 carries for 235 yards and 3 tds, to go with 2 catches for 34 yards. According to NFL draft scout, only lost 64 yards the entire season, and averaged 6.4 yards a touch for 1,277 rushing yards. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings...2013&genpos=RB And then Walterfootball wrote well about him in the East-West Shrine game recap. Good insight. You obviously can't tell what kind of player a really is based off of youtube highlights but it really does give you an idea. Wonder what the Steelers think about this guy, or any upcoming RB's for that matter.
If only I could be a fly in the wall when they talk about draft prospects.

But yeah highlights aren't helpful because they are just that, the highs. I should make a youtube channel of prospect "lowlights".
