The maids who walked in on him at his cabin hideout and called in his whereabouts after getting untied should go for the reward by arguing he was captured at the cabin that burned and, having already been convicted in the court of public opinion, was sentenced by the LAPD when the tear gas cannisters torched the cabin. I assume the LAPD is not contending to get the reward someone needed to personally capture the fugitive then deliver him bound and gagged to the cops

As far as him being "murdered" by the LAPD, Dorner committed suicide by cop - when he was cornered he got into a firefight

So long as no checks are ever put on the police (and I don't see that happening any time soon), anyone who offers less than obedience is "committing suicide by cop". We're just way too sheepish a culture, and no one is as cowardly as the politicians. That said, Dorner had a few screws loose.

On the other hand, unlike the LAPD, he killed no one who wasn't a personal target of his. If his goal was to expose racism and murderous incompetence within the system, he succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.
