Default Seattle Cops' Job at Pot Fest: Hand Out Doritos

Seattle Cops' Job at Pot Fest: Hand Out Doritos

Quote:
Who knew? Police have a sense of humor, at least in Seattle. Cops there plan to attend this weekend's Hempfest — where they'll distribute 1,000 bags of Doritos on Saturday.

A note affixed to each bag will direct munchers to the SPD's "Marijwhatnow" FAQ, which tries to clear up confusion related to the state's legalization of small amounts of the drug. (It explains, for instance, that the SPD won't return the pot it confiscated from you in pre-legal days.)

The chips will come in 1-ounce bags, equal to the maximum amount of allowable recreational weed.

But with 250,000 people likely to attend the event, the bags will be hard to come by, TheSeattle Times notes.

And "Operation Orange Fingers" does have some in the department worried, says an SPD rep, who explains that some officers fear they could inhale secondhand marijuana then test positive for it, thus breaking their promise to uphold federal law.

But, again, humor seems to prevail. A tweet from the department yesterday: "Please ignore maliciously false reports that we're giving out Bugles at @seattlehempfest. We would never, ever do that."

And KIRO 7 notes taxpayers don't need to frown: The chips were purchased by the private Seattle Police Foundation.

Blue state cops also have been known to do more than bring food to the party

A federal judge ruled on Monday that the stop-and-frisk tactics of the New York Police Department violated the constitutional rights of minorities in the city, repudiating a major element in the Bloomberg administration’s crime-fighting legacy....

In her 195-page decision, Judge Scheindlin concluded that the stops, which soared in number over the last decade as crime continued to decline, demonstrated a widespread disregard for the Fourth Amendment, which protects against unreasonable searches and seizures by the government, as well as the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause.

But if the Washington cops want to go with something in addition to Doritos there is this alternative taste treat

Q: What's bright orange and fizzes?

A: Pepsi-flavored Cheetos, of course.

Huh? No, you can't buy them in the USA — at least, not yet — but the weirdly flavored combo snack is no
w being sold in Japan, where almost no flavors are too wacky to mix and match....

I thought weed was to take the rough edges off the day?

Not that I would have any personal knowledge of this

If something looks like a Cheeto but tastes like a Pepsi wakes up the brain, I wonder what something that looks like a Pepsi but tastes like a Cheeto would do for the brain? These are the sorts of deep philosophical questions that are best considered after enjoying some weed.
