A. I like the Jones pick and think he is going to do great.
B. Worilds is OK, but no where near a healthy JH.
C. So Carter can cover? Great, but I think the primary job of an OLB in this system is not to be able to cover. It is to tackle and get to the QB. If you can't do that, you can't play OLB and be successful in this system.

I don't think any of these guys truly replace a healthy JH. No way, no how, and by Butler saying he has never had 3 guys who he thinks can all play, that's not the same thing as any of them truly able to replace a healthy JH, which it appears he is at this point (If you watched "Hard Knocks" you know this is the case.)

This is not to say I think the team made a mistake in handling the JH situation. He had to take a pay cut, and he ended up taking less from Cinci than he was offered in Pgh. And I believe they made a huge - and much needed - step to getting younger by drafting Jones. Jones _IS_ a special player. But I don't believe he has the pure desire and nastiness of a JH (but who does?) He doesn't have the pure hitting power like JH. Jones is more likely to drag a ball carrier down than erase them, as JH does.

Life will go on. Pgh's D will be fine. But that is not saying the same thing as fully replacing a healthy JH. That's simply not the case. No one, or all 3, cannot do that. As vice-presidential candidate Senator Lloyd Bentsen said to Dan Quale in their debate: "I knew Jack Kenneday, Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy." Well, I knew James Harrison (not personally). Coach Butler, your 3 guys are no James Harrison.

It wouldn't not be unwise for all of us to follow that policy.

Carter should go.
He's too easily handled 1 on 1.

looks like Jason Worilds is replacing James Harrison just fine (and yes, pun intended)...

NFL doles out hefty fines after first week of the preseason

By Brian McIntyre | Shutdown Corner

The preseason is in full swing and the NFL has informed several players of fines for infractions that took place in the first week of preseason action.

According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today Sports, five players were fined $15,750 apiece for illegal hits during the first week of the preseason. That group of players includes Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds, who was flagged for a late hit on New York Giants quarterback David Carr in the second quarter of last Saturday's game at Heinz Field.

Against the run Harrison shut down his side of the field. Even last year when he was gimpy offenses did not run at him...when they did - they were stuffed almost every single time. Imagine what that does to a defense.... only need to worry about up the middle or to the left... That's why our defense has been at the top sine Harrison has been a starter.
