Default Can Locke Rebound?

As we head down the stretch, and if you haven't looked at the schedule for the rest of the season, it's a gauntlet of epic proportions. We are going to need this kid's to rebound. We've done ok so far without J-Mac and Wandy, but this kid could be the difference between a wild card birth and a decent seed in the playoffs.

Kudos to Hutchinson for adding some offensive pop to the lineup, but still, our pitching will be what seals the deal, and we are a one starter shy. Anybody?

The Pirates have very few options but to throw Locke out there and see if he can rebound. Wandy is making a slow recovery, I really don't wanna see J Mac out there and Jenmar Gomez is the closest thing they have to a starter

Jeff Locke is a fine pitcher. Solid #3/4 guy.

He's not likely to K more than 5/6 a game, but even with his slide his season ERA is 3.27. Seems about right.

He was never going to sustain his first half. Every stat nerd looked at his xFIP and said, 'this will not end well'.

Any pitcher who pitches a full season (30+ GS) is going to have bad outings (around 5). The key is that you don't want the bad outings to snowball like they did for him in August.

His last three starts haven't been bad; a 3.71 ERA is probably his norm. You'd like to see his walk rate become less frequent, but he's still a solid SP.

If he can produce like that over a full season and every season he's in a Bucco uniform he will be a valuable asset.
