Well, Max Starks is available...

Any thoughts?
While it's true that the Steelers need a franchise LT, they've already drafted two young Ts and just traded for an expensive third one.

They've played themselves into a corner where unless a surefire Ogden or Pace is on the board they need to go in another direction.

CB also seems like a reach. Not because it isn't needed, but because the Steelers have always succeeded without 'elite' ones. That is, LeBeau's schemes work because of a tough front seven that compensates for a [collectively] weaker back four.

DL should be the priority (1st/2nd) in the draft. Ends and NTs; that's what the Steelers D is lacking in right now.

Effective DBs [and WRs] can be found in later rounds.

OL is such a mess I don't have an answer. Other teams seem to turn UDFAs and cast-offs into serviceable OL, so why can't the Steelers? There must be a problem with the coaching, not talent.

I agree with this. If you want to build a new defense (which we need to), Clowney is the place to start.

Offense isn't as much of a concern to me as I think a majority of the issues are on the line and the play calling. Ben has another 5 or 6 years so future QB is not a priority right now.

They have already invested a lot of high picks on lineman, so give them another year to develop and if they don't then invest another high round pick on a lineman. Doing so this early would just be throwing the picks they did invest in away.

Wouldn't work.....Redman would still come from behind and knock the ball out!

If the Steelers do pick top 3 it's more then likely Levi Brown has not worked out at Left Tackle among other things, meaning we should probably take the Mathews kid as our future Left Tackle. Bridgewater is probably gone and wouldn't help us anyway immediately. They don't have the luxury of grooming him like the packers did with Aaron Rogers.

Offensive Line
First Rounder Mathews, Pouncey and Velasco at guard and center (whichever works best), DeCastro, and at RT take your pick between Gilbert, Adams, Foster, Beachum and maybe even Levi Brown at reduced rate.

Looking at what we have they need to address positions everywhere. They must build that WR corp and make the transition to taller more physical receivers. They block better and can play the new trend in NFL passing, high pointing the ball. Improved Red Zone comes with taller more physical targets so add getting another all around TE to the shopping list as well.

Start using Will Johnson! The guy plays like 6 snaps a game. He is fast, big, and has great hands. What a waste he isn't on the field more. The guy could be a pro-bowl fullback.

The future of the Defense screams a mess. The D-line will need another complete overhaul. McClendon is not making an impact at all the way Hampton for most of his career meaning they will be on the lookout yet again for a NT.

They need to start drafting guys who have a knack for intercepting the ball as well, which usually always translates over to the pros. How many times do we see the Steelers pick a guy for the secondary that had like two career INTs in college?

Lose the Little League approach. Stop the constant substitution. Leveon Bell is out there running well and the next series Dwyer is out there or Jones. And then it's like David Paulson's father will be mad if we don't get him in the game for a little bit. We have to rotate Kelvin Beachum in there too! Jason Worilds father is upset he didn't play more so get him out there a bit.

Forget the Pittsburgh connection. Bruce Gradkowski is so below average as a QB it is amazing he is playing anywhere. Look his stats up if you don't believe me. Too many times Colbert goes for the feel good story and signs players based on their roots or connections. Remember early in his career it was always a Detroit guy. If Ben gets hurt this year Colbert will be exposed again for signing Grad in the first place. By the way we could have a guy named Brian Hoyer backing Ben up right now. You may have heard of him. Keeping an injured Leftwich around and losing a QB like Brian Hoyer which led to a loss of a probable very high third round pick to a division rival in next year's draft are the kind of mistakes that must stop.

And finally the biggest game plan should be aggressively pursue trades and mid tier free agency to make your team better.
