Default nationwide fans

Found this to be a fun read about finding Steelers' fans across the country. Making me feel better after yesterday's loss.... You have any good stories like this one? Would love to hear them.

"I could try and sit here and tell you about the Pittsburgh Steelersí 21-18 loss to Oakland.

I could cobble something together about the Steel Cityís native son burning them on a 93-yard touchdown run.

I could pretend to write some analysis of why the Steelers couldnít pull it out because Ben Roethlisberger was under siege all game long behind a suspect offensive line.

Honestly, thatís just stuff I pulled together from an ESPN page, because I didnít watch the game.

I chose instead to drive 430 miles to see my favorite band live for possibly the last time.

Maybe this wasnít the best judgement call in terms of my coverage this season.

Then this red Honda Fit blew by me cruising down a mountain road outside of Phoenix.

Perfectly normal, itís a fuel-efficient car that a lot of people drive.

What made this one different was the giant Steelers sticker on the back.

Iíd realized that Steelers Nation was huge, but that crystallized the notion for me."

Here is the rest of the story.

The day after the loss to Minnesota, I was filling my gas tank at a gas station near my house, wearing a bright yellow t-shirt adorned with the Steelers logo dead center on my chest. I turned around and saw an older-looking man, wearing jeans and a blank gray t-shirt, pumping his gas on the other side of my pump. No team gear at all.

He looks directly at me and says, "You've got a lot of heart wearing that shirt after a day like yesterday."

Awwww, thanks, buddy. <3

I've heard stories of running into Steelers' fans in Thailand, Russia and even parts of Africa! Worldwide Steeler pride!
