If we can win the next 2 I will start being confident about the playoffs. I have hopes now but am not fully confident.

That said, we may not even have to win out to make it in the way this year has been going.

Let's not get too excited yet. The reason for so many meltdowns on this board. Cautious, hopeful, but tempered with common sense should be the way of the fan. Road to playoffs start next week against Cleveland.

I missed the 2nd quarter after the Megatron bomb.

What led to the Lions sudden and seemingly momentary offensive spurt?

Bad blitzes? Broken coverage? Biting on play action like the first Megatron TD? Short field due to...?

Broken coverage and missed tackles. The one big play Ike was supposed to have Clark deep to help and Clark bit on a short route. That left Tron wide open and he made the catch and shedded Ike like he was a small child.

More or less every scoring drive they had resulted from receivers being mostly wide open.

Was it broken man or zone coverage?

Just curious.

It will be interesting to see how the Steelers handle Josh Gordon next week. He's got Megatron-like ability.

You'd like to think they'd apply lessons learned from shutting down 'Tron this week.

There was a few bad punts (good starting position).

Ike dropped a possible pick-six on the opening of one drive. It turned into a good drive for the Lions (their only "long" drive of the day).

Joiqan Bell had a long run and a long screen (on the "good" drive).

As Cyphon said, Ike was on single coverage a lot... without safety help. He did fairly well, but Megatron is Megatron (Deion Sanders would have had difficulty playing 1:1 against Megatron).

Man.

In the second half, it appeared that they used the XLIII defense that they used on Fitzgerald: the SS & CB would switch at the snap... so that the QB could never really get a read if Megatron was in single or double coverage. Hence, Stafford stopped looking in that direction.

Ike stayed on him to his outside and Clark should have been underneath Megatron deep but he ran foward to try and jump a short route leaving Ike on an island already outside and behind CJ. It was an uncontested catch and than Ike shit the bed on the tackle.

We adjusted very well at half and later in the game picked off that very same play and Tron was silent the rest of the way.

I was under the impression it was a Cover 1 Zone. Admittedly I don't know defensive definitions that well but Clark was supposed to be our deep safety and Troy was up to cover a short route.

In the first half, yes... and has happened before, Clark bit hard (and gave up a long TD).

In the second half, it was slightly different. Will Allen was lined up behind Ike. At the snap, Allen did various things: double-covered Megatron, covered another receiver, played SS... Ultimately, it confused Stafford enough that he stopped even looking at Megatron.

That's no slight on Stafford; it confused the hell out of Warner, too.
