Default Those interested in Louis Nix

He's out for the remainder of the year.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...n-knee-surgery

I reckon at no6, he's going to be out of our reach as I'm predicting a 10-15 pick. boo to me.

I like a 4th rounder for NT Danny Shelton (projected 3-4)

1. The surgery could drop him lower.

2. Regardless, Nix will be long by pick #32.

3. A NT from Waahington!?! Really though, they have a good 3-4 defense. Nice suggestion.

Lol. Sorry Teegre.

Yeah, he's projected to go in the 3rd or 4th and the scout reports have him as a better version of Ta'amu.
Reading about him, he's been through quite a bit away from football and may just be more mature, too. So a Steeler type guy?

It's just that I watched Ta'amu for two years, and when he was drafted, I was like "Cha-ching!!!" I truly thought that the Steelers got a R1 talent in R4 (who slipped, due to his shoulder injury).

Alas...

Honestly, I haven't watched as much college this year, and haven't seen Washington at all. (Side-note: I've seen three games of Washington St.) I'd be happy with any upgrade at the NT position, and I know that Washington runs a very good 3-4 (so, I assume that Shelton is at least "good").

This article has us taking a OT from Alabama in the first round. I hate the thought of another first round o-lineman, no matter how necessary it is. I don't watch college football, so maybe he'd be worth the pick.

Cyrus at 13th overall is a wasted pick.

Anyway, this might drop Nix down a little bit, but probably not by a whole lot. There was talk over on SteelersDepot about how the coaching staff sees Al Woods as a "prototypical NT". They also seem to be content with having McLendon play the position and with Hebron signed through the 2015 season, they likely won't be drafting Nix.

Bring on Watkins, Barr or Mosley.

I was also thinking about Nix for Pittsburgh. He's a big, physical lineman. I believe he would work nicely for the Steelers. But after this injury, forget it. Not worth using a 1st round pick on him...

The upside on this kid is scary. There's an article talking about how he might be the next Geno Atkins. This kid might have pushed himself into the conversation of a first round pick.

I wouldn't mind spending our second round pick on the kid. He's local and has shown that his upside is high. Kick McLendon to DE and let this kid anchor the line with Heyward on the other side. It's not a bad idea at all.
