That was an awesome game. The 2nd period was nerve wracking, but it all worked out. The Caps lost to Montreal last night, so that helps the standings.

The Penguins got caught up in the up-and-down the ice trading chances swing in the 2nd. I agree that was nerve-wrecking. It's a risky style of play and the Penguins got burned on the two Islander goals. McDonald's shot was pretty slick. Blew the puck past Zatkoff. Pittsburgh is the type of team that will win by scoring goals, but I don't necessarily believe they need to play up-and-down to be successful. I even think Steigerwald pointed out Bylsma said he wanted the team to avoid it. Pens need to get back to puck possession and cycling. That is where they are at their best.

A truly terrible game being played by the Pens right now. But they are (somehow) only down 1-0 at this point, so hopefully they can turn it around.

Now it's 3-0... Carey Price is playing like Terry Sawchuck.... Pens have had more than their fair share of chances and PPs. They are just hitting a wall right now.

Ended up being closer than it should have. They truly looked terrible for the most part last night...worst they've looked all year I'd say. They've lost a bunch of games where they played well and probably should have won...this was definitely not one of them.

Next couple of games are going to be brutal if they play like that. Boston up next on Monday and then Toronto on Wed.

Just curious, but are they promoting the Wednesday game as Rivalry night again? If so that would make it the 4th week in a row...just weird.

It was a nice comeback. But too little too late. I was in fear when Malkin went down. Relieved to see him finish the game. Haven't heard whether he hurt himself and/or if it will cause him to miss any time. It would be a HUGE loss at an inopportune time if he were to miss upcoming games. As you point out, the next two are tough; both teams will be good measuring sticks for Pittsburgh. We can find out where this team is at competing with the best teams in the East.

Wednesday's game is on Root Sports and TSN (Canada). So it is not carried by NBCSN, thus I don't believe it is a Rivalry Night game. I also did notice the Pens have been featured the past 3 weeks - Capitals, Flyers, and Rangers. Honestly, let other teams play on that stage. I also don't believe Pens/Leafs is a rivalry. Just another series between two teams, IMO.

I didn't get to watch the game tonight...but did I hear right, did Crosby score on our own net, only to tie the game with .3 seconds to go? At least they got a point I guess...but damn.

Despite Martin being out, the defense is still holding itself together. Pretty fun to watch, huh? What concerns me is Dupuis left the game last night after the second period. I don't believe there is word on what happened. Also, Malkin was out last night with a "lower body injury." Hope he is all right and returns to the lineup soon.

Anyone watching the game tonight? Shawn Thorton's a little pussy. Will definitely be a fine and suspension for him.

Pens up 2-1 right now. I missed the first goal, but second one was a PP shot by Neal. Dupuis is back tonight, but no Malkin still. Kunitz took a stick to the face, but he's back on the bench already.
