what i was thinking. i don't think ike would be a fit at safety. qb's would have no fear of going long against us cause at worst it'd be an incomplete pass

Ike Taylor and William Gay are the only reasons why this secondary didn't fall apart when Cortez Allen struggled at the beginning of the season and we had issues at safety until Will Allen returned.

Troy and Clark getting older and slower were the issues with our secondary. Taylor has been a shutdown corner all season.

Ike can still play, but I knew he would start to decline in his 30's. Always thought he could make the transition to Safety like many physical CB's have. I honestly thought that Keenan Lewis and Cortez Allen at CB, with Ike and Troy at Safety would have been a talented secondary.

Shamarko has to show some improvement in the offseason. He isnt going to be handed the spot and the fact that they brought Will Allen back midseason this year tells me that Thomas wasnt ready to be trusted. I still think we need a CB in our first 2 picks.

I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree here.

Ike vs. Calvin Johnson: 6 receptions, 179 yards, 2 TDs

Ike vs. Josh Gordon: 21 catches, 319 yards, 1 TD combined.

Ike vs. AJ Green: 15 catches, 134 yards, 0 TDs combined.

That's a combined 42 catches for 632 yards and 3 TDs against All Pro receivers. All I can say is I'm thankful he didn't have to go up against Antonio Brown this year. It could have been ugly.

Ike Taylor graded out as one of the worst starting CB's this season. My eyes agree with those rankings.

Cortez Allen finished the season stronger than Ike. Get NFL replay and watch the games.

You do know that there's game film to go back and watch. I guess since the season is over some of you feel confident throwing out all this Ike Taylor praise. It's funny.

Ike played like garbage most of the season and let picks bounce of his hands like crazy.

If Ike was so valuable, articles and threads like this wouldn't even be out there.

At one point people were asking to cut Lawrence Timmons too, how did that turn out? You'd be called crazy to question LT now because he stepped his damn game up. Big time.

Ike is no longer a #1, but he is better than any rookie we could bring in. He played fine when we kept the CB on their side and had safety help on both sides. We can do this next season with Shark/W Allen and Troy and C Allen and Ike while our newly drafted CB learns the system. Unless we bring in a FA CB I do not see how we can not keep Ike for at least one more season at CB.
