That's a good one. Heck, most of his movies are at least 3 starts, if not 4 stars, and he has a ton of 5 star movies.

Why does that not surprise me. Your taste in movies is in tune with mine.

Sometimes there is something to be said for not hitting every shot with a driver

For those considering Wolf, i am not saying it was a bad movie - lots of great set pieces, just thought it was repetitive
Very good points and I would agree. Those were the 'demerits' of Wolf. If the first hour hadn't won me over so much then the last would have dragged more.

(although the Leo on super 'ludes scene was freaking epic!)

For comparison, I would say that Hustle vs. Wolf is like True Grit vs. Django.

Very good movies on their own merits in the same or similar genres, but stylistic preferences will determine who likes which one better.

DiCaprio AND Depp.

Leo was good even back then. And, he looks the same.

Ah, Casino. Along with Boogie Nights and Scarface, one of the greatest 'most brutal last act' movies ever. The entire last hour is so hard to watch you have to; over and over and over. Probably because I saw it before Goodfellas I enjoy it more, but possibly because of the larger 'scope' (Scorsese described it as 'Paradise Lost' and that's the vibe I get every time).

As for Leo, it's hard to imagine that some blokes still aren't sold on his ability. They say he 'tries too hard' and such and it's baffling. Dude has range and he's shown it off.

The only fear is that he's been sooooo good for sooooo long, partially because he hasn't won an Oscar. If/when he gets one, will he get complacent like so many other actors?

funny you should mention that. I have been sick and on vacation for the past few weeks. So I have watched a ton of movies. Wednesday night I watched Tropic Thunder immediately after watching Glory.

two of the best war flix ever.

Last weekend it was a Sam Jackson marathon with negotiator, a time to kill, and star wars on spike.

Weekend before was tom hanks in green mile and castaway.

And of course I watched the better parts of kill bill II and Shawshank cause I can never turn away when I see them on.

I really need to quit watching all these oldies on TV and finish Zero Dark Thirty

David O. Russell had a lot of goodwill banked with me for Hustle going in after Silver Linings Playbook last year (in which any movie with the peak scene involving the outcome of a parlay bet on a dance contest and the Cowboys-Eagles game had a degenerate gambler such as myself hooked)

I probably would pay to see Jennifrer Lawrence and Amy Adams do readings from the telephone directory
