BELICHICK: No more questions.

That goes for pretty much all of Trey Parker/Matt Stone's movies.

NFL VP: Wes Welker's hit on Aqib Talib was legal

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick says Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker's pick on cornerback Aqib Talib was a deliberate act and "one of the worst plays I've seen."

NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino acknowledged Wednesday that although Welker appeared to be trying to run into Talib, it was still a legal play – at least for now....

Given the injury, Blandino said he expects the NFL's competition committee to examine the play in the offseason.

So one of the worst plays Belichick has seen is completely legal - obviously the solution is to make the play illegal since Belichck cannot be wrong

No word on how that play will become illegal without the Pats having to throw out their library of pick plays

So it may become illegal now because Talib got hurt? You know, knowing what I know about what older players have gone through with old injuries- I understand why the league has made an effort on safety but at the same time, this is just ridiculous. Guys are going to get hurt. It's part of any sport. Belichick and hte Pats can go f themselves. These guys had no problems with hard hitting when they had Rodney Harrison playing for them but little Wes Welker takes out Talib and oh no.

Michael Thurmond from Seattle stirs the pot on the Welker hit

Wes Welker's hit on Aqib Talib in Sunday's AFC Championship Game didn't sit well with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond.

"It was really uncalled for," Thurmond told reporters Wednesday. "The receiver ran right into the guy. I don't know the extent of the injury Talib had, but I thought we were supposed to protect football players in this league now. I guess not. I guess that only goes one way."...

Thurmond, a fourth-year player, told reporters a penalty should've been called and that Welker may have received a "star" call from the officials.

"If you're intentionally coming at somebody, it's supposed to be a flag," Thurmond said. "But they didn't throw the flag on him. Some players get away with a lot more than other players depending on status, but that's just the nature of the game."

Thurmond said the play, which is called a "rub" or "pick" when a player tries to make contact with a defender, didn't apply because Welker never lifted his head.

"Welker had his head down, like he was coming down the whole time," he said. "That should be a flag, and he should be getting fined. There's a whole bunch of things that should happen in that situation, but I don't run the NFL."

Part of a secondary nicknamed the "Legion of Boom," Thurmond knows the Seahawks will have to deal with similar plays from the Broncos in the Super Bowl
.

I suppose the NFL VP saying the league will look at whether Welker's conduct should be a penalty in the future supports Thurmond's position

Probably a smart move by Seattle to start stirring the pot on Denver WRs getting physical since the physical play by Seattle may be an issue
