He's obviously the final piece to the puzzle.

Isn't he?........

Doing a (very) quick scan over Delmas, his 2013 season was easily the best of his career. He started 15 games, nabbed 3 interceptions and registered 2 sacks. His tackle count is low at 48, but that is more of a schematic thing rather than a reflection of talent.

Not the final piece but would be a damn nice addition.

Could be a great signing.
Yep.

If my memory serves me right: he has a stellar rookie season, was very good in 2010 & 2011, then got injured, but regained his form in 2013.

In Detroit, he was surrounded by three horrible defenders on that secondary. You put Ed Reed in that secondary, and he is bogged down in a similar fashion.

Conversely, surround Louis with Cortez, Ike (or a rookie), Troy, and Shamarko... and he'll be very, very good.

SUMMATION:
The Steelers could be getting an A- player, for the price of a B- player, due to that player having been in arguably the worst secondary in the NFL.

This. I think we're also overly excited since the steelers never act in free agency. Maybe there are more surprises to come.

I agree. Definitely need to curb our enthusiasm and expectations here. Just because we've had past free agents do really well, doesn't mean he will. The events are totally independent. Plus, we haven't even signed him yet.

Here are his career stats.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/...8/louis-delmas

Here's an in-depth analysis of his draft potential when he was coming out of college.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/p...torical/563992

He has had some injuries the last couple years, and I read that he wasn't practicing because of knee soreness. If that is something that will continue, huge red flags go up. I'm sure that is part of the discussion with the Steelers. If he is healthy, and shows his knees will allow him to participate in practice and will recover completely, he is a pretty talented guy.

It all depends on his health, and how much money he's looking for.

It would be awesome if we can grab him, but as others alluded too. Not sure how he could walk out a Steeler today or even this week. I think we still have some cap work to figure out. Maybe the Steelers already have the plan in the back of their head?

Would be nice going into the draft without worrying about Safety, which IMO is pretty weak in talent this year.

We've been slacking on signing Ex Lion players here lately, and everytime we do, something good to great comes out of it.....SIGN THIS MAN!
