I just watched the first four episodes. That last episode was pretty intense at the end. I also enjoyed hearing some Grinderman (Nick Cave & half of The Bad Seeds) over the end credits.

If you want to see some incredible film-making (tv-making?), here's the last 6 minutes of the 4th episode performed in one take with no cuts:

I never start following a new television series in its first year, because they either suck and dont grab my attention, or i really like them and they get cancelled (ive only seen the last 2 seasons of Sons of Anarchy which quickly became my favorite).

However, a few weekends ago i watched most of the People vs, Larry Flynt and A time to Kill, and then the very beginning of Ed TV (a movie i still havent seen).

I was pretty convinced there was no way woody harrelson and mathew mcconauhey would fail to deliver.

2 weeks i caught the first 2 episodes. it plays like a movie, and the "movie" seemed over in 30 minutes leaving me wanting more.

forget about the great script and storyline. the acting and character development is superb and these 2 are at their best. the way the story is told is brilliantly done.

the series will only be 8 episodes (8 hrs) long and then next season begin again with a new story line and cast of characters.

if you dont have HBO, i would say its probably even better to sit down on a weekend and watch the thing in its entirety, like a movie once the series ends.
My feelings exactly. I'll get around to watching it soon, but the reason I knew I should check it out is the cast as you pointed out.

That was definitely intense! It felt like they made a live clip of a GTA mission or something.

Yes

President Obama has added an item to his agenda for Presidents’ Day weekend:

The leader of the free world is looking forward to binge-watching DVDs of his latest favorite television show: HBO’s edgy new “True Detective” series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Mr. Obama made a point of approaching HBO’s chief executive, Richard Plepler, at the state dinner for France on Tuesday night.

“Where is my True Detective and Game of Thrones?” Mr. Obama asked Mr. Plepler as he told him that the coming weekend would be a good time to have the DVDs.

Definitely a must for anyone who is into crime dramas.

And if you're like me, and I know I am, this is a great show to get stoned to and ponder the meaning of life and death. Matthew McConaughey delivers a ton of 'whoa man' moments.
i am getting bummed that this series is going to come to an end. i cant wait to watch a marathon of all the episodes back to back.

after sunday nights episode, i really have no idea in which direction it is going to go. mcconaheys acting is off the charts. its like he is two completely different characters playing the same role. i will be completely baffled if he doesnt win every acting award they hand out.
