I think because of this tossup in my mind at WR - I say get Dennard in the 1st, your WR in the 2nd, then come back to defense in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and come back to either another linemen or TE project at 6th or 7th and leave the other spot for another D project guy

@Steelfury: please send your plan to Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin ASAP.

who? lil ol' me?

they really need to hire teegre - if positive thinking equaled Lombardis - the Steelers would have to start thinking about their own roman numerals for Super Bowl wins.

Why? He'd just give all of our top picks to the Ravens.

The CBs after Gilbert and Dennard aren't nearly as good. Is the CB class deep? Sure, but so is the receiver class. It's arguably more deep with more talent than CB. After Watkins and Evans, there are quality receivers in Robinson, Adams, Lee and Benjamin all viable second round picks.
There will be good players at both positions left in the second. But to me the dropoff after the first round receivers (Watkins, Evans, Lee, Benjamin, and I think Robinson could go first too) is much larger than the dropoff after the 1st round CBs (Dennard and Gilbert).

I really don't think any of those receivers are going to be there in the second. When all is said and done Watkins, Evans, and Lee are first round locks and Benjamin and Robinson probably still go top 40 if not first round. I'd love to have Dennard but I don't think he's that much better than Gilbert, Fuller, Roberson, Purifoy, and Joyner; they're all very close in my eyes and one of them is sure to be there at 46.

Ive been teetering as well . Is the drop off greater between Dennard/gilbert vs the other cbs ? Or is the Difference greater from Watkins/ Benjamin/Evans to the other receivers ?

I think the Steelers have a good idea and will know more after the combines and pro days.

Nobody stares down the barrel of pessimism like teegre. If only we could bottle it and sell it!

He's truly inspirational.

My biggest fear is that Benjamin will be gone by round 2.

Quick, call up Rapoport and get him to start another rumor about Big Ben. Maybe we can trade him for a really high 2nd round draft pick.

Oh yeah, and tell him to make sure Joey Porter and Mike Munchak get fired.
