His pride may not allow him to return to the Steelers at all.

James Harrison wants to rejoin Pittsburgh Steelers
By Chris Wesseling
Around the League Writer
Published: March 17, 2014 at 10:09 p.m. Updated: March 17, 2014 at 10:59 p.m.

Now that he's free to sign with any team, veteran linebacker James Harrison hinted Monday that he has his eye on a return to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Harrison appeared on "NFL Total Access" with Dan Hellie and Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor to discuss the franchise's legendary teams for "Dynasty Week."

When Hellie asked where Harrison wants to play this season, Taylor immediately jumped in with "Pittsburgh."

Harrison's response: "Everybody knows that."

With LaMarr Woodley out of the picture, the Steelers could use Harrison as insurance for 2013 first-round draft pick Jarvis Jones.

Training in Arizona, Harrison said he's going to "go until the wheels fall off" or "until nobody want to put wheels on it."

For vet minimum and with no guarantee as a starter, I say we should do it. We need the depth.

if harrison really believes he's got some some left in the tank , then he should have no problem signing an incentive based contract. something along the lines of...
league vet minimum
+
incentives
1. 50,000 every game he starts
2. 200,000 for every sack
3. 250,000 for each interception
4 150,000 for each forced fumble

lets say he beats out jarvis for the starting spot all year and has a clark hagens type of year. something like 8 sacks 2 forced fumbles and a pick...
955,000 salary + 800,000 starting + 1,600,000 sacks + 250,000 int + 300,000 fum = $ 3,905,000
i think that would be fair compensation for that kind of production.

If a 35 year old has been beats out a 24 year old stud, the Steelers have a real problem on their hands.

they've missed the post season the last 2 years ,so of course there's problems. jones hasn't shown a damn thing yet to be automatically penciled in as a starter. it took worilds 3 and half years to stop looking like a bust , it might be the same with jones.
