Great signing Baltimore. Aggressive reliable receiving from A. Boldin is what got the ravens to the superbowl. They realized their mistake when they had nobody to make Flacco look better than he is.

Smitty don't have age on his side but he has more heart than half the players in the nfl, and that is a big thing when it comes to being successful and reliable.
hines ward also had a lot of heart. didn't mean his time wasn't up.
steve smith has relied on his speed to get separation his entire career. the deep ball was his bread and butter. he doesn't have the speed any longer. he had 4 rec of 20+ yards and only 2 rec of 40+ yds.... he is not a deep threat anymore.

Steve played with injuries last year. Also the Panthers didn't even open their playbook and throw deep passes until the playoffs. The had a boring conservative offense.

Also Steve Smith at this point has way more speed and shiftiness then Hines probably ever had.

Everyone definitely has a time when they have to hang them up, but it ain't that time for smith.

More speed than Hines, yeah that's a given. More shiftiness? Not so fast there Millers the sh!t. Ward's shiftiness is what allowed him to be such a great route runner and the best receiver in the history of this organization. You don't have to have elite speed to be really shifty, and I feel like Ward's shiftiness, physicality, and ability to run clean, crisp, routes is what really allowed him to do what he did for us for years on end.

I think a lot of people exaggerate Wards lack of speed as well. He was surely never a DeSean Jackson/mike Wallace fly route threat, but he wasn't Clod footed or moving w TE speed, I can even recall a couple of plays where he burned some damn good QBs, I remember an 86-yard catch and run against the pats in 04 and a 70+ Uarder from Charles Batch in 06 against Atlanta in which he even lost a shoe
His last two years he clearly lost some speed, but the generalization that he was always a slow wr who couldn't get separation is exaggerated
