If him and Daniels are healthy at the start of the season, I think they will definitely be a formidable duo, especially with Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, and Jacoby Jones working the rest of the field.

Look for a lot more deep balls and PI flags.

??? Ravens older? They add a TE who is an ancient 31 to a 1 year deal. Steve Smith is older, but fast and agressive. Their offense is young, OL is young or in prime. WRs Brown was a rookie, Torrey Smith is young, Pitta is young. They also have Jones in his prime. + several developmental projects from last year at TE and WR. They are young on defense as well, especially in the secondary. Ravens aren't old. They also have a lot of draft picks
1,2,3,3,4,4. Newsome uses the compensatory pick system to perfection picking up salary cap released players and making fair offers to his own players, if they accept the deal fineif not he lets them walk and takes the compensatory pick. Ravens have 3 comp picks in 2015 already. It's what the we USED to do years ago. Kubiak brings in a familiar face, knows the system and Kubiak uses a 2 TE formation. Gronk? Can't stay healthy for 3
weeks in a row. Graham is a beast best in NFL for sure. Daniels turned down GB and Washington. He was on pace to have his best season ever last year, but broke his leg. Rather broken leg than a ligament tear or knee.

People forget Marlon Brown 6' 5 210 led them in TDs as a rookie with 7. He was 5 star recruit at Geargia but couldn't stay healthy in college, but when he played was a stud. He is one to keep eyes on. He caught 49 passes in his rookie year.

Lots of great points all around.

All things considered you pretty much have to believe that the Ravens are 'improved' or, at the least, smart for making the moves they did.

Their main goal is to build a functional offense around Flacco and they've made strives in that department. Their two biggest additions in that regard aren't some unknown rookies who may or may not be something, but rather short-term vets who are going to bust their ass in the pursuit of a title.

Compliments aside, the Ravens offense is still going to have to overcome OL issues and a possible deficient running game (depending on how the Ray Rice situation unfolds). Basically they have 2008-13 Steelers O potential.

Such being the case, them focusing on passing and adopting the philosophy of 'Flacco first' makes sense. The burden is on "The Brow" (TM) now.

Steve Smith isn't fast. The Panthers were looking, and currently are looking for a burner because Smith is a move-the-chains receiver. He has solid hands, but he's 36 years old.

Their offensive line is average. While they upgraded at Center (anything over Gradkowski was an ugprade), Zuttah isn't strong in pass protection. He seems to be solid in the run game, but struggles against bigger, more athletic defensive tackles. They have questions at Right Tackle and RB - what the hell happened to Ray Rice?

The Ravens added older pieces because they had to. Those so called "developmental pieces" are nowhere near being ready. Would they have added Steve Smith if they thought Marlon Brown was capable of being a steady receiver for this team? There was a reason why Smith's phone was only being called by 3 - 4 teams - no one wanted him. Following your logic, we have developmental receivers in Derek Moye and Justin Brown - should we stay away from drafting a receiver? Obviously not.

lol. Gronkowski is the best Tight End in the NFL - period. Daniels has had just as many injuries and missed games as Rob has, yet you're arguing injury history? I don't understand. He's never cracked 1000 yards, and would be a fourth read in the Ravens' offense.

You're basing this around the idea that the Ravens' offense can do no wrong. But I digress, you're the same guy who said Osemele was a better Guard than DeCastro.

I really like Marlon Brown's size and speed. I think the Steve Smith signing will be good to provide veteran leadership to the younger guys on the team. I'm expecting big things from Marlon Brown this year or next.

and no, I'm not expecting a huge turd

Flacco has more Super Bowl victories than Dan Marino and Jim Kelly combined.

But, he's also tied with Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson.

Turds have a tendency to float.

Canada,
Those developmental peices we have in Moye and Brown are important. You need a few of them to come through on your roster. That's how you create depth, a Steeler weakness past few years. The best 53 man roster wins not just 22 starters. Some take time. Got hopes for Moye as RZ target.

As far as Ravens and Zuttah, haven't seen where he is bad in pass protection, he hasn't given up a sack in TWO straight seasons. Tampa fans were pissed he was traded. Thier color commentator McFarland said he is a real good player, but Buccaneers wanted him to move to G, but he didn't want to, hence Smith traded him.
