All three are legacy franchises. Even though the Bears have been mediocre since 1985 they have a huge fan base. The Giants and Steelers are obvious. Any of the three will generate a lot of eyeballs HBO's way.

If anything, I wish the Steelers would have done the Hard Knocks thing year. I would love to find out why the hell the team looked like they hadn't ever practiced together, maybe hadn't even met each other, during the preseason and the first quarter up until the bye.

Browns said no to Hard Knocks

Cross the Browns of the list of potential Hard Knocks subjects.

Browns coach Mike Pettine said that his team was asked if it would appear on the show and declined. Pettine noted that as a first-year head coach he has the right to say no, and that’s a right he wanted to exercise while he learns on the job.

“It was for the same reason we didn’t feel super comfortable having a camera in the draft room,” Pettine told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Let’s get through the first time, let’s get through the first year.”

Teams can refuse if they’ve done Hard Knocks in the last 10 years, if they’ve made the playoffs in either of the last two years, or if they have a new head coach. Pettine has been through Hard Knocks before as an assistant with the Jets, and he said it’s possible he might do it again as a head coach with the Browns. Just not this year.

“There are positives and negatives to doing it,” Pettine said. “It’s not something I would say we’d never do, partly because the league can make us do it.”

The Browns will have one of the most intriguing training camps in football this season, thanks to the arrival of Johnny Manziel. But Pettine said the Browns were first approached about it before the draft.

I wonder what the "positives" are to it. I think the Steelers would be the most interesting of the teams left in the hunt, but I also think it would be disruptive. Of course, maybe that's something we need, is a little spotlight on some guys to light a fire.

I would love to see the Steelers on HardKnocks, however not if it will be a detriment to the team . . . so I am kind of on the fence on this one.

it didnt hurt the bungles none last season, and they seem to be one of the teams historically more succeptible to distractions.

I suppose. I still think the Rams are the obvious choice. I know Fisher's against it, but the NFL has a PR problem with the Richie Incognito thing, and showing how well behaved the Rams are around Michael Sam would go a long way in repairing that.

Of course, I don't have HBO anyway. There's never anything on there I want to see, so I just have basic cable. I might have to get it if the Steelers are on there. Though, they usually sell that stuff as tapes after the year is over right? I could pay $20 for the DVD instead of $200 for upgrading my cable.
