It isn't his draft position that is keeping him on the team; it's the fact there is nothing behind him. Adams has been horrible against the pass rush since he was drafted. But they have nothing else so he stays.

I don't know what game y'all were watching. How many sacks did he give up? Beach um almost got gradkowski killed twice. Then again, Jason Pierre Paul is no joke. Adams held his own against him.

Once our starting 5 linemen left the game it is pretty easy to see Adams and Wallace are our next best 2.

He's certainly not perfect. He seems to get easilly off balance when he gets out of his stance into a back pedal, but he seems to maintain his position and use his giant wingspan just long enough.

He won't hold a 5 second block on every passing down, but only the greatest linemen do.

When he does appear to get beaten, I think he recovers really well to prevent a sack or disruption of a play.

Haha... you mean the plays where the defender took an outside angle so wide to get around him, he simply had to turn and walk him outside of the pocket and play?

I saw that happen several times and the rusher was pushed so far out of the play he couldn't even sniff the qb.

Maybe next game y'all will watch our back up right tackle and appreciate Adams a bit more.

he will make the 53 man roster and likely be the primary right and left tackle reserved.

True. As far as backup qb and ol is concerned, I'd go as far to say Adams was the only bright spot.

Beach um certainly wasn't a world beater with the starting unit. Few ol are vs JPP

Do I expect maybe more out of a 2nd rounder?

See Woodley

That said, it may be a blessing for our depth - Adams IS good enough to make a 53 man roster, maybe just not a long time starting solution - I'll take him on our team

Unless that is you offer up a better idea?

Adams reminds me of a little kid playing "rock-paper-scissors"... and always choosing "rock." Then, just when he realizes that there are other options & he finally chooses "scissors", the opposition chooses "rock."

Regardless, he's far better than Guy Whimper... who consistently chooses "dead rat."

Whimper got beat bad 2 times...Adams is a serviceable back-up, but watching him at Ohio St. I thought he'd have it figured out by year 3.

Appreciate Adams? For what? Being the best at not being the worst out of our bench players? Better hope our oline can stay healthy. If not, Ben would probably choose the option of jumping out of a 10 story window than to have Mike Adams fill in at LT. Adams is great at run blocking but Ive seen enough and don't even want to imagine the nightmare that was Jared Allen all over again. Adams may make the team but that doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy inside regardless of how awful Guy Whimper is. Adams, at this stage, should be heavens and above someone like Whimper and he simply isn't. I hope he comes around.

This is what I learned from steelersfever fan analysis of OL play:

Mike Adams is supposed to drive block on every passing play.

When mike Adams backpedals out of his stance to set up in the pocket he is to be considered beaten and on rollerskates.

Not giving up a sack, qb pressure, or hit on the qb the entire game is to be considered playing consistently horrible on every single down.

Way to go steelersfever! its amazing to think you all aren't coaches on at least the collegiate level.
