53 man roster

Does the 53 man roster include the practice squad, or are they allowed to keep 8 additional for practice squad?

53 is the active roster only.
you also get to keep the 8 men on the practice squad. BUT if I'm correct another team can sign a player off your practice squad. For example, I believe the Packers, last year, signed Noah Herron off our practice squad.

I'm pretty sure all 53 suit up, you never know what injuries will occur. The practice squad doesn't suit up though.

Total payroll....61 playerrs

53 suit up...8 on the PS......

Only 45 are active on game day, not all 53. See:

The other 8 are on the roster, but do not dress for games. This allows the team to sit players for injuries, matchups, etc., without any other teams being able to sign them. The practice squad players (another 8 on top of the 53 man roster) may be signed to another team's 53-man roster at any time.

Also, on gameday, the team may designate a player to be the "emergency quarterback", who does not count against the 45-man limit. The catch here is that if this player is put into the game at any time, then the starting QB is not allowed to return to the game.

Thanks for posting that last bit of info. That tad-bit of stuff I didn't know!

I think that a team can place a person on the active roster that was on the practice squad if another team is going to pick them up.. I remember we put someone on the active roster last year cause another team wanted someone and we didnt want to give them up. I might be wrong on that , but is what i thought .
