The Bus will do the job that is asked of him, and do it well; just like he did for the Steelers.

The Bus' job now is what stlrtruck said; to create controversy and to put butts infront of the tube and keep them there. Expect him to excel. Request nothing more.

I don't if Bettis said this just for the headline sensation with his new job or if he really thinks this way...obviously not what any Steeler fan wants to hear. Hanging out with Collinsworth hopefully won'tt have too bad of an effect....poor soul! (lol) But he's got a new job and something to prove. It's probably not going to be the last time he makes this kind of comment. Let's believe he'll be proved wrong.

#36 left some pretty heartfelt memories in my heart. I wish him nothing but the very best in all of his future endeavors.

He is now the enemy better known as the "media" He has a new job, he is paid to make startling comments. As far as audience growth goes, I sincerely do not understand what the media is all about because really and truly there are more Steeler fans watching or not watching than anyone, seems to me they would want to sweeten the pie now and then just for their audience.

While I'm not going to sit here and say that I am overly thrilled with The Bus' comments, I'm not going to jump all over him for making them either. He is relatively new at this commentator gig and has a lot to learn as to when you hold 'em and when you fold 'em. He has gone (in a very short period of time) from the energetic, competitive player and team leader that we all have loved for years to an energetic, competitive analyst embarking on a new careeer, where his every word will be either receive accolades or scrutiny from not only his peers, but from all NFL fans who are tuned in.

I don't agree with Jerome's predictions and I'm OK with that. We always accuse Cris The Pencil Necked Geek Collinsworth, Boomer the Bleached Blonde, Deion The Pee-on and various other former NFL players turned analysts of being "homeys" and being biased towards their former teams - I think Jerome is trying to play the middle ground and not come across as a homer. No - we don't want to hear some of the things he's been saying that have been popping our party balloons, but I don't put much stock on any sports commentator's predictions, especially not during or immediately after the pre-season. Relax, folks - Jerome bleeds black and gold on the inside and you can take that to the bank.

GROWL!!!!
The "Bus" has become a legend in his own mind!
What the HELL gives him the right to think he is the reason we won last year
I have loved the BUS but he is really starting to turn like my ex-wife...
Leave us alone! BUS and be your media guy, but remember 1 thing, We made you the BUS......We can taketh it away. Maybe the BUS-TURD is better now?

Bettis seems to forget as mentioned earlier in this thread, that he almost caused us to lose in Indy...If Ben hadn't saved his a**....we'd still be hunting for one for the thumb. His importance to the team was more of a motivational importance....

All I see this is fuel to the fire. A lot of people are doubting them already, and now with Bettis saying they can't repeat, chalk this up as motivation. People say Parker can't and won't get it done, but Willie thinks and knows otherwise, he is already fired up about comments about him made by many.

You know this is going to get our guys fired up, which is exactly what we need. THANKS JEROME!

We can't repeat because we're missing the guy who says we can't repeat?

Man, maybe all that extra weight he was carrying the last few years was ego. It's not goo to see Collinsworth stupid rubbing off on Bettis.

I wonder if deep down Bettis is just making these comments as motivation for The Steelers. Maybe just his way of trying to fire up the locker room. Thoughts anyone?

Bettis is doing what NBC wants him to do.

There hasn't been a player yet who's stepped off of the field and in to the studio who hasn't had an overblown ego. Every single player talks about how good they still are and how much their old teams are going to miss them. Jerome is the same way.

The simple fact is that it's hard to repeat as Super Bowl champions no matter what has happened to your team. If we break out the gates 4-1 or 5-1, a lot of this can't repeat nonsense will go away.
