Let's face it, the commonality of that thread is player jealousy. This was a player poll. You got to figure these players have burnt a lot of the players being questioned.

I dont think you can give Manning so much credit for the wins and his passing stats, and then lump so much of the blame on the rest of his team come playoff time.

Alot of people are of the opinion that the Colts D folds in the postseason which just isn't true - they have been competitive nearly every game - they dont concede more than 24 points too often.

While I have alot of respect for his passing ability, I question some of his QB skills - the ability to handle the heat, to think rationally under the most severe pressure.

Despite rarely being blown out in the post season, where he might be expected to be forced into pass-only mode, his worse game always come when it matters most.

I also think the 'over-rated' tag is not given to him not purely because of this annual postseason failure to perform, but because every year we get the pundits repeatedly ball-washing him - I dont think a QB existed who was as good as the Peyton Manning hype.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

When was this poll taken? - I think Reggie Bush is the most over-hyped/overrated player I've seen come around in a long time - take away his punt return and what has he done? -- ESPN will agonize every week to find some kind of highlight even if it's a five yard swing pass - he's the new Eric Metcalf - except Metcalf was better

hard to argue with this and you almost have to say marques colston is the front runner for offensive rookie of the year. i have to ask about bush though... would horn, mccallister, colston, and brees be as productive if he werent there? probably not

you got me - he's not overrated as a decoy, but how long will that last once everybody realizes he's really not that much better than everybody else in the NFL

I didn't put 'much' of the blame on the rest of his team. I was merely stating that his losses have been team efforts, and they deserve just as much 'credit' for the loss as Peyton does. Too many times I see posts that 'Peyton Manning chokes'. Well, if we want to put all of the blame on him for losses, then he get's all of the credit for the wins.

I'm more in the middle. I feel that he plays a large role in his team's success, and he also plays a large role in his team's playoff inability. That is not to say that he chokes, as he had nothing to do with the way that his blocking seems to shut down against teams like the Patriots, and how his 'automatic' kicker couldn't take a game into over time.

In short, I just don't feel Peyton is the only one to blame the Colts' post season woes, as many would like to believe.

It's not his defense. It's always been his offenses inability to put up points. As I said, Peyton does his job to lose those games, but so do his receivers, offensive linemen, and special teamers.

I'd say that's true for every quarterback. What many don't take into consideration is his ability to prepare for the blitz prior to the snap. He is able to avoid a lot of sacks and mistakes because of pressure from the audibles that he calls when his team is at the line.

While I would agree that he has had trouble dealing with pressure when it is put on him during the play, I would say that holds true with every quarterback in the league. The only QB that I've been more impressed with to handle the pressure put on from an opposing defense, prior to and during the play, is Tom Brady (whom is the reason that I only put Peyton in the top two, rather than #1).

I think it's awfully hard to claim someone that holds the amount of passing records that Peyton Manning does is over-rated, post season failure or not.

Just my .02 though.
