With todays decision and the Isle of Capri not receiving the slot license, the pittsburgh penguins future in pittsburgh is a major unknown. if everyone does not know the penguins have the ladanian tomlinson of the nfl in sidney crosby and HE IS ONLY 19. with other stars such as jordan staal(18) evgeni malkin (20) the penguins have a shot to have a dynasty!
but now we are not going to have an arena, and a move to kansas city looks likely. i am going to the game Steelers game sunday and i will be showing my support for the PENS. plz make banners and whatnot to show your support. maybe we will show the politicians that the right thing for the city is a new arena. jerome bettis and his mom have backed the casino company that has won the license and his mom has called it an "act of god" they do not care about the city of pittsburgh and thus are ruthless. the rooneys were even saddened by the decision to have a slots casino on the northshore. PLZ IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE GAME SUNDAY SHOW YOUR PENS SUPPORT!!!! Last edited by sowinskiman; 12-20-2006 at 05:56 PM. |

First... The word you're trying to use is "traitor" not "trader".
Second... While I would like to see the Pens stay in Pittsburgh, it's not the end of everything. Pittsburghers just don't care that much about hockey. I enjoy hockey and love to see it live, but I cannot afford the prices they are asking. I do not enjoy watching hockey on TV. Therefore, I don't watch much at all and see live games even less. As for the casino. I don't know much about it at all. I haven't lived in Pittsburgh since the late 80's. I do know it makes sense to me to put it on the North Shore. That's where the stadiums are and other attractions. There's space there as well. Will it impact the people that live over there? Yes it will. I do feel bad for them but... The casino will bring alot of much needed money into the city as well as the bad elements that come with it. It's a catch 22.

Well, I can see where you are coming from. I also would like for the Pens to stay in Pittsburgh. But, I'm not going as far to say that Bettis is a traitor. In fact, I think that might be jumping to conclusions. We don't really know just yet what the status of the Pens will be, however I hope that is decided soon.

Oh christ, you dissed the wrong guy on this board.....lol. Bettis had nothing to do with this decision. Just because his family backed it, doesn't mean he was the one who awarded the license. Look to your local piece of shit politicians.
Now.............. First off, slots on the North Shore is going to be a mess. Parking and congestion over there already is a complete mess. If we want to make it a Steelers vs Penguins ordeal. The Rooney's did not..........I repeat, DID NOT want the PITG to win. McClatchy did not want the PITG to win the slots. Keep that in mind. No matter what Casino they brought in, this city would have brought in money. The only difference, the IOC would have brought money into this city while funding a FREE arena. No tax payer dollars. That arena would not just be for the Penguins, it would have brought in money for other events. So on top of the casino bringing in cash, so would have the arena. It would have been great for both the city and Penguins. That's a point many look past. If you don't like hockey, that's one thing. That's your choice. At the same time, speak for yourself. Pittsburgh has proven they can pack a nice arena when it comes to hockey. While it's a football town first, there is a large hockey following. I've seen it first hand over many years.

I'm not much of hockey fan but I did follow the Pens in the play-offs when Super Mario and Jagar where playing. I think it would be terrible if Pittsburgh lost the Pens.

Actually - a hockey game is very reasonably priced here, imho. The Pens have had an installment plan for years now where you pay a certain amount over a 6 month period instead of having to pay for the season all at once like the Steelers. Mario Lemieux has gone above and beyond to make Pens' games affordable for season ticket holders as well as fans attending random games here and there. The Pens also hold some very nice promotion nights and are very kid-oriented. I am not upset with Jerome Bettis or his Mom - we all have different reasons for supporting who we do in this ongoing saga. I'm sure Hines Ward feels totally different, as he (and Jeff Reed) are semi-regulars at the games - XT and I see them quite often. I"m praying with all my might that our Pens remain here in Pittsburgh. Thread moved to Sports Dimension forum.

As for the prices...........
It's not much better at Heinz or PNC. The only difference, at PNC you have the Nuttings and McClatchy bending you over and laughing at you while your buying a beer for $6.50.
