True dat.

But there were a lot of people who were predicting that NAFTA was the beginning of a slipppery slope and that it would hurt the people/nations it was trying to help more than it would hurt them.

Course, I suppose that no government can impliment any policy without a bunch of people predicting it will all turn out wrong.

You know what I think is by far the best thing the government has done legislative-wise in my adult lifetime? The Do Not Call list. I can't get over what a difference it makes to not have your phone ring 2-4 times a night with telemarketers. So there is one case where our representatives struck a blow for the common man. But that is the only one I can think of. Maybe we should all write our legislators about spam laws.

NAFTA...North American Free Trade Agreement...create BLOC of Canada/US/Mexico to compete globally with seperate European and Pacific Rim Bloc's.

This highway is going to be used to ship goods FROM THE FAR EAST through Mexico and into the US. Who gives a shit about who signed off on this, or the unions being cut out of the deal? The entire irony lies in the fact that goods that were SUPPOSED to be manufactured cheaply in Mexico (the central tenet of the whole reason NAFTA was enacted in the first place) are actually being manufactured in China. This defeats the whole purpose of NAFTA.

NAFTA should be repealed immediately...

I agree Bro!

I don't know that I can say it is the "best" legislation but it has definately helped to destress my household! If you thought it was bad in the evening, you should see what it's like during the day! That No Call List has been very effective - amazing!

My company's USA HQ is in Austin so I get decent info about this. Like the new toll bypass around Austin is bascially the first leg in the "superhighway." They werent supposed to start charging tolls until this month but they have been monitoring vehicles traveling on it since it opened a few months ago. Also, a co-worker of mine there told me about the "environmental impact" meetings that were being held with the public. It ended up being just a front to keep pushing this highway through. And all of this is endorsed by a governor who was re-elected with under 40% of the vote in November.

Repeal NAFTA and start a new Trade Agreement

FUSTA (For United States Trade Agreement)

And make it real simple terms...

If you're import is an attempt to derail the American Dream, then we will put a tax on it so high, you won't be able to afford it.

If you're company is outsourcing, then we're going to lay a fine on you for taking jobs away from Americans.

If you hire illegals, then you'll get fined

Something along those lines!!

Simply more proof that NEITHER party could give a rat's ass less about the middle class in this country.

I want you for our next President. That would make too much sense.

I appreciate the vote of confidence but I think many of the younger ones would be calling for my impeachment when I return to the "Good Old Days!" When children were obedient and respectful, or disciplined for not being so! When a man had to pay for the crimes he had done and victims had rights and not the criminals! When hard time was HARD TIME!

But, they were also times that this country and it's people THRIVED! They lived, they helped each other, not shot at each other.

Anyone know how I can get on the next election ballot!

I just wonder if I can get congress to buy in to it too!
