that ain't smart football to me, you keep the guys out there and flex your muscles let them get all the reps they can get help build more confiednce and pad some stats that's what's you do, that's what i like, taking out the starters just makes the score look more decent and i don't like that. blowouts look better.

How smart is it if Ben, Willie or one of your other big studs on either side of the ball goes down and is lost for the season for the sake of stats or padding the score in the middle or late 4th quarter.
If anything you give the reps to the backups in garbage time in order to get them some experience.

well did you see ben throwing the in 4th? i didn't see him do much of that, willie needs the reps to get better as a running back and needs to get used to the pounding and cowher was stat padding him cause he took him out as soon as he got over 100 yards. anyway this is gonna be convo that will go on forever casue i won't change my mind about takin out the starters so it'll be pointless to keep going on. you think what you want to think and i'll think what i want to think.

I agree with the injury logic, but I agree on keeping them in. Why? It reestablishes the 60 minute a game mentality. You have had two dominating wins on the scoreboard. If you take the starters out, you have them chit chat on the sideline for the 4th and then all week you are kinda trying to put the back in focus. Its like a mental prevent defense. Just keep doing what your doing. If it was the playoffs/bye week/or such then fine sit them but not a week away from the Pats. Focus first.

I could agree with that but the thing that bothers me is that with 7 minutes left in the fourth quarter how many series are both offense and defense going to see? Perhaps 2-3??
Just too big of a risk IMO.
At that point I think it's just about milking the clock.

Could you imagine the media and fan firestorm coming down on Cowher had a key starter been lost in last few minutes of the game when the outcome was a foregone conclusion?? He would be Crucified beyond belief.

The game announcers Steve Tasker and Don Criqui were both commenting about why the Steelers starters were still out there so late in the game.

Didn't know about the announcers, but I guess the same can be said for pitchers who are ahead 12-0 but get left in. Glad we don't have to second guess this one.
